Monica started at Bryggen just because she wanted to loose som weight and get in shape. Somewhere along the way she discovered that she liked lifting a bit better than all the other stuff we do, and that she was good at it. Soooo … She started lifting, for real. 5×5 linear progression. Nothing fancy.
6 years later she is super strong. I made a Facebook post today about us being in Sweden. It got more than 200 likes ! You have to get a baby or something to beat that 😂😂😂
Every year Egil Kroknes is there. He is the national coach for the masters. Egil knows the game. He is friendly and relaxed. Listening to Monica’s plans and making suggestions.
Monica is boss at the squat. She always win the squat. Since the lady’s don’t get very big numbers in the bench press, it often gets down to the deadlift who is going to be champion.
Egil is there. He always knows what to do. If Egil thinks it’s better to secure the silver than gamble for gold, then that’s what she has to do. Monica is lifting for Norway.
Today she won the gold medal in Squat, silver in the Bench Press, and silver totally.
After the competition we were happy and hungry, so we decided to find a burger place. We said goodbye to everybody at the stadium (Not everybody, but all the lifters and coaches we know😃)
I looked up at the big screen when we left. There was Egil. Doing it all over again. Calm and relaxed. Telling a lifter what to do ❤️
And then off course what happened at CrossFit Bryggen today 😃
